New, unsealed concrete is porous and subject to surface wear and staining if not properly sealed and maintained.
With proper sealing and maintenance, your stamped, colored or stained concrete will be more likely to have a long
lasting, beautiful and durable appearance.
The sealer selection for stamped, colored or a stained concrete is generally based on the “finished” look you want
and the stain protection you need. All of the sealers below may be used indoors or outdoors.
To insure that the end result and appearance are satisfactory, it is recommended that the sealer be tested in a small
area first. Always read product label and directions carefully before beginning use.

Glaze `N Seal Options for Stamped, Colored & Stained Concrete

*Indoor use only. Glaze `N Seal Acrylic Floor Polish should be used after sealing to protect and extend the life of
the sealer. Polish is available in High Gloss or Matte Finish.

Surface Preparation

Prior to the application of Glaze ‘N Seal’s sealer products, surface must be thoroughly clean. Remove all dirt, oil, grease, paint, efflorescence and any previous sealers that may not be compatible with the new sealer. For general cleaning use Glaze ‘N Seal’s alkaline base Heavy Duty Cleaner. For efflorescence stains or hard water deposits, use a mild acidic cleaner like Glaze ’N Seal’s Efflorescence Remover or Phosphoric Acid Cleaner. When acid has been used for any reason, surface must be thoroughly rinsed and neutralized with a product such as Glaze ‘N Seal’s Neutralizing Rinse or T.S.P before any sealer is applied. Read cleaning product instructions and cautions with any cleaner.

After final wash down, allow surface to dry 72 hours before application of sealers. If newly installed (concrete-tile) requires grouting, it is recommended to pre-seal the tile before grouting to ease grout clean up. Use the sealer you have selected for the job to pre-seal the tile 24 hours before grouting. Test to be sure clean up is suitable before grouting large areas. Follow the grout manufactures directions for grouting. Thorough clean up of all grout residues is a must before final sealing of concrete tile & grout.

Seal

After surface has thoroughly dried, apply two or more coats of sealer to concrete using a brush, lamb-wool applicator or spray-equipment. Allow surface to dry 1-3 hours between coats depending on temperatures.
When using a film-forming sealer (Multi-Purpose or Lacquer), use thin, even coats. Minimize foaming.
When using penetrating-type sealers (Concrete and Masonry Impregnator or “Natural Look” Penetrating Sealer), apply liberal coat. Do not allow the “Natural Look” Penetrating Sealer to dry on the surface. Wipe up excess liquid immediately before it dries.
After sealer has been allowed to dry, test for water resistance. Apply a water test, (sprinkle drops of water in different areas; the water should bead and not penetrate).
Adjust drying times and number of coats to specifics on sealer package.
After final coat, allow sealer to dry overnight. Limit heavy traffic on newly sealed surface. Allow 72 hours cure time before exposed to moisture contaminants and vehicular traffic as sealer may continue to cure and harden for up to 10-14 days

Polish

FOR INDOOR USE ONLY! After using film-forming sealer, i.e. Lacquer or Multi-Purpose. Wait 24 hours for sealer to dry, then apply two (2), or more, coats of Glaze `N Seal Acrylic Floor Polish. Allow 60 minutes drying time between coats of Floor Polish.
Use “High-Gloss Finish” Polish or “Matte Finish” Polish, depending on desired look.

Routine Cleaning

Maintain your floor with frequent sweeping or vacuuming of dirt and loose soil. Regularly damp-mop floor with water and Glaze `N Seal Neutral Cleaner. Use a minimum amount of water on floor and dry promptly.

Note* No sealer or polish can prevent every conceivable type of stain or abuse. The coatings give you resistance and buy time to allow clean up. Dependable, routine maintenance of your concrete surface will give you the best results.

Promptly wipe up any spills to minimize staining risk.
Place protective felt pads on legs of moveable furniture.
Avoid dragging furniture across sealed floor.
Use throw rugs and/or doormats to reduce floor wear.
Re-apply Glaze `N Seal Floor Polish as necessary to prevent “wear-through” of polish.
Polish may be applied in worn or affected areas only; the entire floor does not need re-polishing at every ‘touch-up’ application.
If polish finish is properly maintained, the floor should not require re-sealing.
